The Guest Reader

Today I had a chance to spend some time at Dylan and Allyson's school. They are celebrating Children's Week and they were looking for someone to come in and read to the kids. Of course I volunteered...how many books have I read to other children while I have worked in the schools??? I told both of the kids that I was going to be making a guest appearance today and Dylan was so excited. Of course he had to introduce me to all of his friends!!! Not that they don't see me on a regular basis...it was sweet. It is so important to me to be able to spend time with them at their school. I really struggle with my choice to work at times. I guess it would be an easy decision if I had to work, but I choose to be there. I read my favorite children's book to Dylan's class, Today I Feel Silly by Jamie Lee Curtis. It was a great book to read to my three year old friends. They were so interactive. Allyson's storytime was another story. I think she was confused about why I was there. Her little friends were sweet as she cried and tried to climb all over me. The little ones loved the Sandra Boynton story, Snuggle Puppy, that I picked for them. It was the highlight of my day, plus they came home early with me. Dylan has already invited me to read to his class tomorrow. That sweet boy of mine!!!
